Flanged ductile iron pipe is a pipe made of ductile iron as the main material and with an integral cast flange at the end of the pipe. It is an important connection form in the ductile iron pipe family.

Material: Ductile iron

By adding a spheroidizing agent (such as magnesium or cerium) to the molten iron, the graphite in the cast iron is transformed from flake to spherical.

Core advantages: This structure gives the material high strength (high tensile strength), good toughness (good elongation), excellent impact resistance and corrosion resistance close to steel, while retaining the good casting performance and shock absorption of cast iron. Its comprehensive mechanical properties far exceed those of ordinary gray cast iron.

Connection method: Flange connection

Flanges are pre-cast (or welded, but integral casting is most common) at both ends of the pipe.

During installation, align the flanges at the two ends of the pipe, place a sealing gasket (such as a rubber gasket) in the middle, and then fasten the two flanges together with bolts and nuts.

Core advantages:

Easy to install and disassemble: It is convenient for segmented installation, maintenance and replacement of pipelines.

Firm and reliable connection: Bolted connection provides strong rigidity.

Good sealing performance: Choosing the right gasket can achieve excellent sealing effect, suitable for higher pressure.

Easy to connect valves and equipment: Flange is the standard interface form of valves, water pumps, storage tanks and other equipment, making it very convenient to connect the pipeline system.

Internal and external protective coating:

Lining: Cement mortar lining is usually used. This provides excellent anti-corrosion protection (preventing water from corroding the pipe wall), maintaining water quality (meeting drinking water standards), reducing head loss (smooth inner wall), and preventing scaling.

External anti-corrosion: The most common is zinc-rich primer + asphalt-based coating. In special corrosive environments (such as seawater, strong acid and alkali soils), more advanced coatings such as polyurethane, epoxy resin, PE sleeve, etc. will be used to provide strong external corrosion protection.
